1) To an opening 1 suit opening bid.

TIPS

Calling

Call length not strength (call your longest suit not the suit with high cards in)
Stop as low as possible unless you think that between you, you have strength to make game call (26 points is thought necessary for game)
A change of suit is forcing for one round (if your partner calls a different suit you must make another bid) No-Trumps is never forcing
Target To get a game call (100 scoring points) you normally need 26 or more points
A game call is 3NT, 4H, 4S, 5C, 5D
Consider calling a small slam if you can see 32 points between the two hands or have a long suit and voids.
